Doyles Room Leaves U.S. (Gambling 911)
http://www.gambling911.com/Doylesroo...Us-021907.html
Apologies if this has been posted already... DoylesRoom.com, one of the most popular poker sites on the internet, today announced that it will close its US-facing operations. The recently passed Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and closures by payment processors were cited as the reasons for the surprise move. With immediate effect, US online poker players will not be permitted to sign up for real money play or deposit funds into existing accounts. DoylesRoom.com will not permit US-based play commencing 1 March, 2007. DoylesRoom.com will continue serving non-US players and will increase its focus on Canada, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Commenting today, a spokesperson said: "In view of the passage of the UIGEA and the cessation of operations by Neteller and other payment processors, the management of DoylesRoom.com has reluctantly decided not to permit online real money play by US-based players at DoylesRoom.com". |

Surprised Doyle would let this happen, and not simply move to another network, a la Full Contact.
Would also like to know where this leaves Hoyt, Kristy and some of the other Doyle's Room pros. |

A virtual life in Canada is sounding more appealing every day. An address, cell phone, bank account and a box to act as a proxy server ought to be enough to be able to continue to play most sites.

So far that article appears to be [censored]. Gambling911 has been well known for spreading false information.

Re: Doyles Room Leaves U.S. (Gambling 911)
The proxy server is turning out to be my biggest problem...I have the address, a phone number and 10 bank accounts...but I'm having difficulty getting a proxy server thru Canada...I've have to log in thru a proxy in Japan, which resulted in a phone call from the site (PartyPoker) to confirm that it was really me still playing...
Any ideas on where to get a proxy from Canada? |

Gambling911 exaggerates sometimes, but I doubt they'd quote a nonexistent spokesperson.

Re: Doyles Room Leaves U.S. (Gambling 911)
Doyle's Room without US players is going to be an empty place. Without the people from Golden Palace and VCPoker, it wasn't going to be that great anyway.
