Re: Is gambling permitted in Florida?
The casinos ON LAND have a max bet law of $2 per round. Ones on land include both Hard Rock casinos. Some of the ones listed are ones that go off shore into international waters (SunCruz, Sterling) and have higher limits.
Make sure you look for a website before you just go out there! I don't think Ocean Jewel runs anymore, but I'm not 100% on that. Also, it's also missing Derby Lane (dog track/poker room in St. Petersburg). |

How are the boats? Are they real ghetto? [/ QUOTE ] I've been on SunCruz (from both Port Canaveral and Madeira Beach), and the Sterling line (from Port Canaveral). The boats are fairly old and "ghetto" . You'll see a lot of elderly people there just blowing away retirement. Check out the websites before you go, and make sure the waves aren't too rough out there, since you have to sail for quite about an hour each way (out and back in) before any gambling can happen. |

Re: Is gambling permitted in Florida?
The ships tend to have pretty bad players, and the Hard Rock casinos are worse (the $2 max bet makes everyone not care about money). It's not uncommon to see 7-8 players going to the flop when it's capped pre-flop.
I think the ship players tend to be a little better, but not by much. I'm not sure exactly what day the cash games are...I'd call them before going out there! |

Re: Is gambling permitted in Florida?
there are other card rooms in tampa, miami, jacksonville, and daytona beach. what sucks though is that florida law puts a cap on the max bet you can make in any poker game, which is $2. that's why the biggest games you'll find in these rooms is 1/2 limit. however, check out sun cruz casinos; they're gambling boats that run out of daytona, jacksonville, cape canaveral and treasure island. since they sail out into international waters they can spread higher limit and NL games. you only get to play for about 3-4 hrs. at a time, but the games are super soft.
