Flotsam and Jetsam (LC?HC?)
Flotsam & Jetsam
a.k.a. ASK BIG LIMPIN ANYTHING ABOUT PLAYING LIMIT POKER FOR TWO MONTHS Feb 8th. Its my birthday. Could 28 even be old on 2+2? its 4:20 pacific time zone, and ive already celebrated. until at least midnight, i'm going to be here at my computer, playing cards and on 2+2, at least until mindingt. QUALIFICATIONS: -semi/pro holdem several years -never played a hand of draw-poker EVEER before Decemeber -played more draw than anything else (combined) over last 2 months -75% limit ring draw, smattering of PL ring, PL MTT -amlost certainly has read every draw post in this forum over that time. (*50% retention ) - ~$5K richer for the experience. more pertinently, my toolbox is bigger for the experience If you are noober than me at draw? Ask questions maybe i can give advice what to expect if you wnat to play draw to win some monies Forum regular/ old skool draw? The responses you guys give to my opinions are what drives me to post here. I'm a leech for feedback / i learn most when you contradict my thoughts. Keep it coming! let this thread gogogogo, then it can die. i'll spew thoughts on anything |

So yes. Not old for OP by a stretch though. Due to a fun week in many respects, I'm reduced to rebuilding my bankroll from $3500 or so, mostly at Stars and Poker.com. Should I mix draw into my rebuilding plan? How much? |

Re: Flotsam and Jetsam (LC?HC?)
I would recommend against "investing" in Poker.com, there is simply no traffic at reasonable stakes. If you usually beat the Stars games, then PStars will probably offer the best utility, for an American. I'll ask you: what do you see on the horizon? Any new sites with draw? Draw vs Donkeys is a pure slaughterhouse.
If your "rebuilding plan" from 3.5k involves many many (fun) hours of $10/h nights, then i think draw poker would be a good addition to a mix (keep some hold'em for sanity reasons). Really, i dont think theres much use for a $3500 roll online, at the sites i play. The draw economy seems best suited to rolling regular but smallish wins off a ~$200-500 roll. There seems potential benefits of playing the PL mtts too. 2461, you ought to take your 3.5k, leave 500 in stars, 0 in poker.com, and 500 for utility (netller, cough, cough ) to use when we find us a nice new berry patch? Take the remaining 2.5 and either i) buy something nice or ii)take a serious 2.5k shot at a holdem game you think you can beat. |

Re: Flotsam and Jetsam (LC?HC?)
$50 -> $62.30 , 5 minutes. then dude sat out.
ok: (Q1) When heads up, with small blind and the button (and 1st action predraw), what % of hands would be optimal to fold with? I figure at least SOME of the time my rags are best folded predraw. 10%? I've been doing someting like 40% raise open, 40% limp complete, and 20% folding, from the small blind....thats just intuition. Help? *still waiting for new opponent |

if you limp > __% from the SB heads up please advise where the table is stripsqueez - chickenhawk [/ QUOTE ] welll, thats what i'm asking. You tell me whats a good amount. Can i NEVER open complete? I'd get picked to pieces if i raised every hand, so then i'd have to open fold more. Theres sure some % of hands a limp makes sense? Or should i stick with the philosophy of raising every hand i'm going to play with? My "intuition" was that you could come in passive with more hands than in Hold'em. If the hands run further apart in value (in draw), then my medium hands are valued based on what HE has, and i want to see him act twice in a row before i put my money in. stripsqueez, instead of % , could you ballpark a good hand range? I'm used to SB-BB confrontations in a full ring, where BB is button. But there im raising most any medium pair or better (~40%)...but for 0.25BB, I'll only fold the real hopeless hands. An ace, small pair, cathop, whatever, ill just limp in. <--weak-passive? So in heads-up, the SB now has button, so should i be raising more of my "meh" hands like A-K and 44? KQs and 88? (Q2) if theres been a good one, can you link me to a headsup draw thread? like from the archives? big [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] if you do! |

Re: Flotsam and Jetsam (LC?HC?)
also, seeing as this is the F&J thread, heres someting to share, i want your opinions on:
A PM i received about a month ago: [ QUOTE ] 5CD From: [deleted] The pool of folks at Stars draw is small... and not terribly lucrative. I think it doesn't serve your best interests to post strategy on a game that has so few players in it. When Stars opened draw, I made $44/hour for the first month but the games have dried up and I find I am making $12-$15/hour these days. Might be a good idea to not share your strategy because it risks the other players getting better. [forum member] is on my I-can-beat-him-but-not-by-enough-to-be-worth-playing list. The last thing I want is for folks like him to get BETTER! Good luck out there... as long as I am not at your table. [/ QUOTE ] Opinions? |
