Revenue sharing in MLB
I think everyone would agree that the NFL is enormously popular and is making a ton of money. The NFL has revenue sharing. It seems to work. Why doesn't MLB adopt a revenue sharing policy like the NFL? Is it simply because of the greed of the owners and players? Do they lack the foresight to see that revenue sharing would make MLB that much more popular and financially rewarding?
Or am I being shortsighted here? Does anyone think that revenue sharing wouldn't work in MLB? |

Re: Revenue sharing in MLB
Does it have the full revenue sharing of the NFL? I didn't think it did. I know there is some limited sharing, but nothing like the NFL.

Re: Revenue sharing in MLB
The only teams that it really effects in baseball are the Mets, Red Sox and Yankees.
Also all three of those teams dont really seem to give a crap about the cap. They just pay whatever they need to, then make thier payroll larger next year.. |

I think some of those teams get around 15-18 mil a yaer from it. That is enough to sign a star player or 2 impact players. That can make a huge difference to your fanbase. |

Re: Revenue sharing in MLB
Florida's entire payroll last year was less than they got from revenue sharing.

Re: Revenue sharing in MLB
It all goes back the NFL deciding to negotiate their TV deal as a league instead of as individual teams. This happened decades ago.
You can't just force that on MLB after several teams have built their own regional networks from scratch. |
