Default Too passive with my overpair?

Just from memory, sorry for the bad post...

Stars
.50/1 - 9 handed
NO reads - one of my first hands at the table

Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in SB
Folded all around, to the button who calls - I raise. BB folds. Button calls.

Flop:
J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I bet, Button raises, I call

Turn:
9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
I check, Button bets, I call

River:
4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I check, Button bets, I call

In hindsight, this was very weak on every street, right? I shoulda re-raised the flop? Check/call was real bad on the later streets?

Yes. 3bet flop; as played, donk turn and call down after a raise. Else bet river.

Same here. I bet until villain raises. Any raise though probably means you are behind because villain can beat TPTK.

I'd 3-jack the flop or bet the turn at least. Villain has a pretty wide range here.

*grunch*

Yes, too weak: Should have 3-bet the flop -- you are likely ahead here. Also lead the turn, in case villain was semi-bluff raising the flop.

You were strong on the preflop street! Reraise flop for the love of all that is good and holy.

For value would suffice. No need to mix in God and the Holy Virgin.

I think on the flop you have to 3-bet this. Given the pre-flop play and the open-limp from the button I doubt he even has overcards here and was maybe calling to see if he hit a flop.

3-betting would put you in better shape to play the subsequent streets.

Unless the guy hits a raggy two pair you probably have the best hand and with your passivity and his betting shown he probably has at least some part of the board - probably a jack.

I would have three bet and then led out on the following streets

Get in there Guns Blazing, every time.

The times you win, will far outweight the odd times you are behind
