200/400 hand i probably played very bad
there are 2 streets here that im unsure about.
villains hand almost certainly has to be kings cause he raised from EP and there were queens and jacks behind him. there are no dead aces at the table and like 1 dead low card. we are 8 handed. 3rd: A8-5 - BRINGIN-call xx-K - complete 4th: xx-K4 - BET A8-5Q - call 5th: xx-K42 - bet A8-5Q5 - CHECK-call i think i misplayed 4th but correctly played 5th. am i right? |

Re: 200/400 hand i probably played very bad
Assuming this is Stud/8er-better
Fold 4th And fold 5th When you put him on Ks on 3rd, check to him on 5th with an open pair, and then he bets, it means you are toast. He could only have a lone pair of Ks but that would imply that he plays rather well and probably doesnt think to highly of your play - the reason why I say this is because the only way I would value bet naked Ks on 5th is if I knew my opponent would peel 4th with garbage(which was the case in this scenario) |

Re: 200/400 hand i probably played very bad
yah sorry guys this is stud 8.
also, i expect the opponent to bet a naked pair of kings when i make open 5s. i would be very surprised if he checked behind. assuming you know that, do you still call the bet on 5th? |

Re: 200/400 hand i probably played very bad
a c/r would be more convincing from his perspective that he's beat.
but this should be a fold purely on equity. |

Re: 200/400 hand i probably played very bad
If we know he has at least KK we are inbetween a small dog to big dog if he has two pair. Also when we do make the best hand it is going to be difficult to extract value.
However this looks like an awesome spot to check-raise. Putting the heat on 5th and then again on 6th should fold out KK and maybe even Ks up. We have a potentially dangerous board and in addition we can back into a low or something like As up so its not a total shot in the dark. I dont know what your image was like but if you have been playing tight/solid then this seems like a great spot. I hardly ever make plays like this but this seems like as good a time as ever. |

stud 8.... I'm folding 100% of the time if i don't catch a low, straightening card, or ace.

Fold 4th and fold 5th. OK to call 3rd because your card are live.

Re: 200/400 hand i probably played very bad
Once you get to 5th, you have to see the river. You're 40/60 against K's with a 3 low, 45/55 against K's with a brick in the hole, and 30/70 against K's up. Assuming a $40 or $50 ante, you're getting about 2.5:1 effective to see the river. Folding would be a clear mistake. I think betting out is better than check/calling though. You'll hardly ever get raised, and I don't expect you'll get a fold too often, but there is always a small chance. The main benefit of betting out is the possibility of getting a free card on 6th, as I think there is a decent chance he'd check just K's behind if you bet 5th and check 6th.
4th could go either way. You're getting ~5:1 on your peel and you're less than a 2:1 dog to K's and less than 3:1 against K's up, but it'll probably be a tough hand to play. You probably won't get any value if you hit your A on 5th, so you'll be stuck chasing if you pair up or hit a low card. Not really a big deal either way IMO. |

Re: 200/400 hand i probably played very bad
The call on third is fine. The call on fourth is moderately putrid. I'm not crazy about your hand on fifth, but I think the call is OK. I recommend that you get hit in the face on sixth.

5th street options best to worst
raise fold call (now where have I seen that before?) |
