Default Red Sox Trade Rumor

As relayed on MLB radio on XM, the Red Sox and Rockies are discussing a deal that would send Julian Tavarez, Mike Lowell, and unnamed prospects to the Rockies for Todd Helton and his fat contract. Thoughts?

This proposed trade better include Clement. Helton has a ton of money left on that contract and his back is all messed up. Although, he would look real good batting out of the 2 hole all year. COL also has to be picking up some money in this contact, or else it makes no sense.

Obviously Colorado will pick up some of the salary.

"This winter, the Rockies said they were open to discussing trading Helton, knowing that they'll have to eat a significant portion of the $90.1 million Helton is owed through 2011."

" FoxSports.com identified Triple-A center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury as a target of the Rockies."

Ellsbury is the top position player prospect in the sox organization. Not much power, but big time speed that he uses well on D and offense.

HIs OPS at coors is 1141 compared to 900 on the road.

Are you referring to "stats" as like RBI/run stuff?

Yeah the question comes out how much. He is owed 90mil or so over the next 5 years. 1/2 of that better be picked up and there is no way the Sox should include any of their top prospects in the trade.

Not a chance, given the market.
