Default are these 2 books worth a twirl

-championship nl and pl holdem by cloutier & mcevoy (championship edition)

-how to win at omaha high-low poker by cappelletti

ok first off, for nl ive read super system 1, harrington 1 and 2 (pretty much all of both), and other stuff like theory of poker.

haven't read anything on omaha, and id like to get really good at it. i remember this dealer who told me a few years ago that the difference between good and bad hold em players is this much (holds fingers about 2 inches apart) and between good and bad omaha players is this (about a foot apart)

im using doyles room points to get these books so im basically freerolling, but dont want to order crap.

thanks for your help, friends.

I vote for finishing those first.

fair enough, but ive still got enough doyles room pts that are likely to be worthless very soon, are any of the 2 books i asked about worth a read?

Doesn't Rolf have an Omaha book that is suppose to be really good? See if you can order Rolf's book through Doyal's Room.

can you do mcevoy/daugherty no-limit? much better book than clothier/mcevoy.... don't know the omaha books.

people generally think the championship no-limit book by clothier/mcevoy is worse than bad, it will harm your game... don't have an opinion, never having read it, but it doesn't look that great and it's very expensive.

any other choices??

ship the "how good is your limit holdem?" book. play mostly nl now but i anticipate playing some 15/30 at the (somewhat) local casino since it's the biggest game around.
didn't feel like waiting around and taking a chance on the other books getting in stock. sorta doubt it would ever happen anyway.

appreciate the input all..

There are other better books for both. For no limit/pot limit Ciaffone's is better but the Cloutier/ McEvoy book is gerared for tournaments not cash and for Omaha 8 the section in Super System 2 is better than Capaletti's and it is co written by Mark Gregorich who has made his living from mostly Omaha 8 for nearly ten years. The Ray Zee hi lo book also is pretty good for O 8 but I liked the SS2 O8 section better.
