Re: Calling the river sorta light
Don't call those.
Fold, or if you have to put more money in, raise it. |

Re: Calling the river sorta light
i fold both of these, and hero calling is a huge leak in my game.

Re: Calling the river sorta light
I will sometimes not fold those against LAGs and people who enjoy river bluffs; but mostly you should.

Re: Calling the river sorta light
first flop i feel like when someone calls that they usually have some kind of low pair most of the time, or maybe even TP on a low flop, at least at these stakes or type of play. Probabaly more so at FR; Ace high has some showdown value at shorthanded.
2nd hand make your preflop raise bigger since there was more to the flop, and the call/check could easily mean a slowplay. Likewise, it could also mean the same thing that they have a decent low pair in the hole for 2pair. Fold the 2nd hand for sure; the first one gets a little tricky 6max with busted draws but just fold it FR until you get better. |

Re: Calling the river sorta light
Hand 1: At full ring I find these river bets are bluffs less often than you'd think. It certainly could be a busted flush draw but I think you should be folding these without a read.
Hand 2: Fold 100%. In hand 1 villain checked behind on turn, indicating weakness, but here villain may have been going for check-raise on turn and missed so definately fold. |

Re: Calling the river sorta light
I used to think these were bluffs often enough to want to call, but this is usually not the case.
The only way you should call either of these is if the guy has been floating the flop on you WAY too often and taking pots away from you later. And even if it is the case it's still not that great. Or call if he loves to bluff missed draws. |

Re: Calling the river sorta light
I'd need a pretty big read on villain as a player who likes to bluff river with air or busted draws in order to call these. He has some sort of pair way, way too often.

Re: Calling the river sorta light
I'm surprised at how strong the consensus is for folding.
Hand 1: What range do you put a typical villain on here? How often does villain that that line with a 9? How often does he have a pp? How often is it XcXc? Hand 2: What hand can you put villain on here? |

I'm surprised at how strong the consensus is for folding. Hand 1: What range do you put a typical villain on here? How often does villain that that line with a 9? How often does he have a pp? How often is it XcXc? [/ QUOTE ] I'd say this is something between 9x and quad fives like 80% of the time. Almost all of the rest of it will be bluffs you can beat. [ QUOTE ] Hand 2: What hand can you put villain on here? [/ QUOTE ] He could have missed a c/r on the turn, a marginal overpair, filled up on river, hit his straight draw with 75, hit an 8 with 8cXc. In both of these hands you can only beat a bluff and IMO your average 50nl player just don't bluff in these situations often enough for you to show a profit by calling. With strong reads either of these could turn into a call, but I think calling an unknown player in these spots is spew. |
