Hello All
I am hoping to make my debut in a casino soon. My poker experience so far has been playing online and at live home games with friends, all low stakes. As I am usually playing with a few chips in my hand while I play online, I keep doing so live as well. I don't even realize I am doing it. Most of the times I am just doing the shuffle, i.e. merging two stacks of chips together. Some of the home games I've played at have been on normal wooden kitchen tables, where the sound of chips hitting the table is quite distinct. There I've gotten complains about my shuffling, and so I stopped. The problem is that I start doing it again about 5 minutes later without even realizing it. What reactions will I get from this at a casino, if any? Does this bother you? |

It will get you absolutely no reaction at all, and 90% of the table will be doing it as well.

If you've never been in a decent sized live cardroom before, one of the first things you might notice is the sound of the chips. Poker players don't notice the sound anymore, but whenever I'm with a non-poker player, they often point out how loud the chips are in the poker room....because as mentioned, 90% of the people are shuffling their chips.

It won't be as loud on the felt as it is on the kitchen table.

I liked the explanation of shuffling chips.

You will be thrown out for shuffling chips. Doing the front to back trick, gets you two warnings. You are expected to sit completly still and silent.
