- After much discussion as to the timing of the challenge (Linky), we have decided to start the challenge at 8:00pm EST
Details: When: Tuesday, Jan 16 @ 8:00pm EST All members must register for the next FOUR 4/180s on PokerStars AFTER 8:00pmEST (20:00 Server time). If a tournament has less than 20 regged at 20:00 then that tournament will be the first one. I will post in this thread when we are starting. Cost: Please send $10 to Ontario_Tory on Stars. (That's toRy, not toNy... be sure I'm in Toronto before sending.) Scoring: Same as last week: Missed tourney = 0 points 180-150th = 0 points 149-120th = 0.5 points 119-100th = 1 point 99-80th = 2 points 79-60th = 3 points 59-40th = 4 points 39-30th = 5 points 29-20th = 7 points 19th = 9 points 18-15th = 10 points 14-10th = 12 points 9th = 15 points 8th = 17 points 7th = 19 points 6th = 21 points 5th = 24 points 4th = 27 points 3rd = 30 points 2nd = 35 points 1st = 40 points Wins and final 3's are HUGE in this stucture. Tie breakers go as follows. 1st tiebreak - Total Monies Won 2nd tiebreak - Highest Finish 3rd tiebreak - 2nd Highest Finish If tied after that it is chopped Payout structure is the same as last week - notice it's a bit different than the 20/180 challenge - a bit flatter. Payouts: Less than 10 = 1st-100%, 10-19 = 1st-80%, 2nd 20%, 20-29 = 1st-60%, 2nd-30%, 3rd-10%, 30+ = 1st-50%, 2nd-25%, 3rd-15%, 4th-10% So who's in? I promise - I will recreate the Wall of Fame for 2007... For now, in text mode: January 9th - mypc8mymoney (66 points) January 2nd - Blindcurve (54 points) |

We also had a discussion last week about making a progressive side-pot... The idea is that a portion of the buyin would be put-away and paid out once a certain condition is met. Some ideas of those conditions include:
- FT all four tourneys - Win two of the four - Bubble all four tourneys (19th in each one) - Have a 'Tournament of Champions' at the end of the year (or every six months)... A private tourney, only for those that have won the challenge, with the progressive jackpot added to the prize pool. As for the size of hte side-pot, we could keep the buy in at $10, but 50 cents of each buy-in is added to the side-pot. Or it could be an extra buck (make it an $11 buy-in, rather than $10). I'm open to discussions / suggestions. Obviously won't affect tonight's challenge, but let's get the discussion going. I'll create a poll in the next day or so based on tonight's discussion, and we'll implement (or not) starting next week... To start us off, I'm in favour of the Tournament of Champions. I like the idea of a firm end to the side-pot, rather than something that could go on forever... (If we ever decide to end these challenges, the ToC could provide a clean break... That way I don't have hundreds of dollars sitting in my account, waiting for the day for somebody to FT all four tourneys...) Discuss amongst yourselves... |

Count me in for tonight ToRy... those that seek vengence from last week can come and get it. Trying to talk a buddy and my GF into playing it too, but they aren't sure if they can 4 table.
I like the idea of a side pot bonus too if you want to commit to owning it ~forever~. An extra dollar added to the buy in with 50 cents to the 2007 champion and 50 cents for a 4 final table bonus. That could be a huge champion bonus at the end of the year and encourage weekly participation. Might be a bunch of record keeping work too... My $.02 worth. Don |

I'm up for this tonight if my girlfriend ends up starting class like she thinks she does. If not, then I already promised to take her out to eat and wouldn't be back in time for the start.
I need to avenge my two 2nd place finishes and a third place in the last few weeks. |

I might be down. I'm assuming, as always, the 7:54 PM decision to join is fine as long as the money's delivered...

I think 4 ITMs is better than 4 FTs. In a couple months of doing these no one has FTd 4 of these, and only one, EXTREMELY talented MTTer has gotten 4 ITMs . I think 4 ITMs is rare enough, and achievable enough, to make for an interesting progressive pot.
As for adding the money to a TOC, I think this is fine; however, I assume we're quickly apporaching the 6 month mark which would be a good time to run the first TOC, and if that happens it's probably best not to use it for the progressive pot if we've only had a month or so for it to accumulate. |
