who else is considering "moving to canada" to get around the sportsbook restrictions against US players?
the rx offshore forum has some solid info on setting up a "canadian" account for those who want access to pinny, plus the other sites that have stopped doing business in the US. personally, i'm tempted not only to get back on pinny, canbet, and wwts, but also to gain access to willhill, ladbrokes, eurobet, betfair, etc. here are the basic steps: 1. set up canadian address (info here) 2. set up canadian bank account (info here) 3. set up proxy or vps hosting to get canadian ip address (vps info here) 4. set up canadian voip for canadian phone number (some info here) in the end, you're out maybe $100/month but have a canadian street address, bank account, ip address, and phone number. in theory, this should be all you need to just be another gamb00ling canuck, right? personally, i'm very interested but i'd like some more confirmation that pinny will actually buy this whole act and allow me to either open up a new account or remove the US restrictions. it looks like there's a lot of info out there but a dearth of success stories. i figure i might as well try to get a discussion started here. if you want more privacy, feel free to PM me, or we can chat about it on AIM or IRC or something. |

What happens if/when a book (or books) asks for a scan of your ID before they let you cashout.
I know that in the past, most books didn't require an ID. However, with books looking to keep US players away, the chances of getting carded may increase. Also, as more of these type of threads pop up in forums, chances of sportsbook managers seeing them increase. If/when they see them, they could start thinking they should start verifying that their customers are not in the US - especially when they see just how "easy" it is to set up shop as a Canadian, but still be in Ohio. |

Re: ** Official ** \"Expatriate\" Thread
After careful consideration, Pinnacle Sports has chosen to voluntarily exit the American market. Accordingly, wagers will no longer be accepted from clients located within the United States as of Thursday 11th January 2007.
Like Pinny says, they are no longer willing to accept play form theose located within the US. Now US citizens traveling or living abroad even in Canada would be allowed to continue to play. You simply send in a copy of your US Passport explaining you currently live in Canada for reason X. -Brendan |

Ortho on your current account this wont work. Now if you setup a new account with a Canadian Bank account, address and IP address this will work. People have spoken to CS at Pinny and US Citizens living abroad will be allowed to still bet there. Now if you where a US Citizen who already had a Pinny account living abroad and you still have a US address tied to the account you are SOL as of right now.

good idea...unfortunately, Canada won't let me inside its borders. A real shame as the Vancouver area seems awesome.
