Throwing Someone Else Under the Bus -- Foxwoods 20/40
Deranged is SB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
MP1 is a standard Foxwoods 20/40 player-- a bit too loose (probably 25% vpip), a bit too passive (particularly on the big bet streets), and has the tendency to trap everything. He doesn't chase hopelessly, and maybe is about median or above in overall skill for the table. CO is Little Bus, a good (if hopelessly dim-witted) tag with whom I have traded countless hands. He happens to be on a sick heater at the moment. Pre-flop (10 players): three folds, MP1 calls, one fold, Bus raises, one fold, Deranged calls, BB calls. Flop: (4 players, 8 sb): J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Deranged checks, BB checks, MP1 checks, Bus bets, Deranged check-raises, BB folds, MP1 calls. Turn (3 players, 7 bb): 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Deranged checks, MP1 checks, Bus bets, Deranged folds... |

Re: Throwing Someone Else Under the Bus -- Foxwoods 20/40
I like 3-betting LB preflop. He's pretty honest and he has a tendency to peel less than optimally, and he'd think you're less likely to 3-bet given the limper and I very much don't want the BB in there.

I'd probably re-pop him pre-flop. The flop looks fine.

Re: Throwing Someone Else Under the Bus -- Foxwoods 20/40
Not crazy about the turn fold -- is it too much to hope for that MP1 has a hand like A2s or 44, and Bus has 66/77 or AdKd? I guess I'd like the fold better if you had bet and gotten raised.
Did you decide, after MP1 cold-called the flop c/r, that you weren't putting any more $ in the pot? |

Not crazy about the turn fold [/ QUOTE ] There's zero chance he's ahead of Little Bus. |

I thought that I knew everybody and everybody's nickname but Little Bus is a new one on me.
Anyway, MP1 calling 2 cold on the flop sets off all kinds of warning bells and bus calling the raise is not good for your 88. Good play on the turn and tell me, MP1 c/r's right? |

Barry,
We're not really Foxwoods regulars anymore ... Little Bus is a friend of mine from school / NYC. We got there this weekend, though. I am glad you agree with the play, as you probably have the best sense of the game dynamics I was feeling when I made the play. I'll hold off on giving results for a bit, though. |

bus calling the raise is not good for your 88. [/ QUOTE ] I think Little Bus (thank you Terence for that fabulous nickname) still has a wide range when he calls a flop c/r. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Also, LB is a much better player than you give him credit for in your posts. |

[/ QUOTE ] My comment is related to the flop call only, we don't know that LB will bet the turn when Will decides to check. And if it wasn't clear, I said LB has come a long way - he isn't spewy anymore, but my last experience with him was a few months ago when he still wasn't a fantastic hand reader and he had become far less creative intentionally in an attempt to become a better player. He is however the best player in those games outside the obvious few of us. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |
