Default NYG offseason thread

Wow:
[ QUOTE ]
OK, Here's Some News...

After hearing plenty about the Giants and Patriots' VP of Player Personnel Scott Pioli having mutual interest in making Pioli the Giants' GM, a Giants official just told me that the Giants asked the Pats for permission to talk, permission was granted...

And Pioli declined to be interviewed.

Word is that even Bill Belichick placed a call to the Giants to tell them how good Pioli is. This is a bit of a shocker, I think, but the guy has a good job with a good team and might not want to be the one to overhaul the Giants.

I said it before and I'll say it again:

If the Giants do not get rid of Coughlin, then I will become a Jets fan.

It will almost definitely happen later this week. Who will replace him?

I really have no idea. HC names that have been (carelessly) thrown around include Belicheck, Cowher and John Fox. As for realistic candidates, I guess all the coordinators that everyone else is interviewing. I think Mike Sherman is a pretty good coach too. Maybe they can add themselves to the list of teams that have been rebuffed by Ferentz as well.

I think they'll likely try to find someone to help their young QB develop. Maybe the SD o coordinator. The Giants are usu pretty cautious and careful about things like this so it won't likely be like the Petrino-Falcons thing, Coughlin will be gone this or next week, new coach 2-3 weeks later probably.

Why would you be SHOCKED? If you know how the Giants' franchise has operated vis-a-vis business like this for, say, the last 30 years, you would know that they would not make a coaching change the day after a playoff loss.

Pretty sure you used vis-a-vis incorrectly.
