Re: Worst NFL coach in history was...
The people in Detroit after Marty have had the same results and he is a good coordinator. The coaches is Detroit haven't been the problem.

The other Lions coaches never took the wind in overtime. [/ QUOTE ] Speaking of historically significant Lions coaches, I'd nominate Darryl Rogers. From Wikipedia: "He went 7-9 in '85, 5-11 in '86, 4-11 in '87, and 2-9 in 1988, for a career record with the Lions of 18-40. One of his more famous quotes during his unsuccessful tenure with the Lions was when he once wondered aloud to reporters after a loss, 'What does a coach have to do around here to get fired?'." I remember reading newspaper articles about his offense - it was so simplistic that opposing defenses would routinely call out the plays before the snap. |

Re: Worst NFL coach in history was...
Dave Wannstedt, terrible seasons with the Bears, took a decent Dolphins team over and put them @ the bottom of the league.

The other Lions coaches never took the wind in overtime. [/ QUOTE ] i don't know how strong the wind actually was, but it's been shown that the entire advantage from receiving in overtime is from the ball being kicked off at the 30 rather than the 35. let's say the wind is strong enough for an automatic touchback. against a bad offensive team, giving them the ball at their own 20 is probably +ev for winning the game. of course, it would still be a -ev move for the coach, because whenever you go against the grain and look like an idiot for it, it leads to being fired. |

I'll second Wanny. Just not a rallying figure. But on a positive not, great moustache and also great pre/post game conferences. 'AH, HE'S A CORNER.'
