"Ever since "Return of the King" won the best picture Academy Award, my geek friends and I have been dreaming about how wonderful it would be for a kick-ass local theater to run Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" movies back to back to back. (The extended versions, of course.) It doesn't get much more kick-ass than the Castro Theatre in San Francisco (OK, maybe the Grand Lake in Oakland ...), which has a "Lord of the Rings" marathon set for this Saturday. That's 559 minutes of orc-tastic cinema, starting at 1:30 p.m. and ending, by my quick calculation, some time in April. The cost is $10, and the Castro is making clear that "pillows and blankets will NOT be provided by the theater."" |

In one of the DVD extras, one of the members of the cast (I think it was Dominic Monaghan, though I'm not sure) claimed that Viggo Mortensen kissed at least five members of the Fellowship during the whole shoot.

the local cheap theater in minneapolis also did that today (and I think possibly for the whole week?), $2 per movie. They weren't actually back to back to back, I think they probably cleaned the theater between each. Like 11:00, 2:30, and 7:00 showings
personally I thought those movies were waay too long and overrated |

El D,
Will you be dressing up as a hobbit or elf for this one? Curiously, 4_2 |

I smell a last-longer prop bet for bay area 2+2ers.
