I purchased a 360 a few weeks back, and it has a manufacturing date on the back of 6/16/06. Does anyone know if newer systems are experiencing hardware failure, or just the launch models?
I'm debating whether or not to drop $60 for the extended warranty. |

You know i'm going to buy the x360 today, it's going to be a new one but with all the horror stories i'm going to get the 70$ exstended warranty with my store. I would rather deal with them then micro$oft in the usa. Yes there are still problems, still people getting junk systems, ones that freeze, ones that go on fire, and die, get the warranty.

A good choice to buy from is Costco as they have a built in lifetime warranty with the membership. If you got a red circle of death within a year or so, you could just take it back to them for a refund and rebuy one.

I think I might risk it. The warranty would cost me $60, and it seems like repairs are $150. Is there really a 40% chance of failure?

I work for microsoft, the xbox 360 team ...
GET THE WARRANTY. Trust me 25% of them break within the first 4 months. The newer console models are a lot better, but still get a in store warranty not the microsoft one if u can. Cause they just send u a refurbished unit with repairs. |
