PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t100 (7 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com
UTG (t3240) UTG+1 (t1275) Hero (t1575) CO (t2910) Button (t1575) SB (t2560) BB (t1865) Preflop: Hero is in MP1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG calls t100, UTG+1 folds, Hero raises to t300 UTG range is huge. I felt like I was a bit too deep to shove. If this is a shove, how many bb's do you start shoving this hand with one loose limper. I would have raised less preflop but its hard to type in 250 while playing a gajillion tables. With my stack size, if I continuation bet the flop and get a called ive invested a ton of my chips. 50-100 blind level sucks! |

Just push. You are creating all kinds of problems with this raise, as you seem to realize. Gigabet's block theory comes to mind here (probably something in the FAQ about that.) Taking the pot down leaves you at t1825, which is solid position and you are well on your way to finishing ITM. If someone calls you, great. If not, that's fine too. I know the temptation is there to squeeze an extra ounce of EV out of this hand because you've got slightly more chips than is called for to push here, but you'll end up burning yourself quite often, folding post-flop and finding yourself short-stacked.

The great thing about pushing this preflop especially at this level, is that the guy with AJ/88 knows you're bluffing and calls you.

Ya, this sucks but just push. The pot is 1/6th of your total stack and him calling the raise makes any bet after a push anyways. There are only 3 hands you are behind and 4 people to come. The odds of you being beat here are incredibly slim and you'll get yourself into trouble by trying to play this post flop. with his range any Q,K,or A is scary.

If UTG is also a loose caller, would anyone try a stop-n-go?

for shure push this, you will get called by a bunch of crap because the guy thinks you are trying to steal the pot from him and you are looking good to double up especially if UTGs range is huge, If you raise it to 300 and get a call, then he leads on a Q or K high flop you might have to fold and now are in bad shape. Defenaley just push
