I've been playing 24VPIP/12PFR poker, no all-ins or crazy bluffs....just some good solid poker. My questions: 1. Do i need to bet the flop? (i check to hopefully get a free spade/king) 2. Turn bet too small or too big? 3. River: call, raise some, push? thanks |

1. cbet that flop for 5 dollars, if called check turn (even though there is a spade draw out there, considering you have the k of spades I wouldn't consider it).
2. Since he checked the flop and turn to you, you basically know that you're ahead. Bet the entire pot. 3. As played, raise the river to 25 ish. After hitting that set on the river there is no way I'm folding. If he has J10, then I blame myself for letting him draw. If you want to play it safe just call behind (ie he isn't very aggro on rivers and this is out of character). |

1) No, checking is fine.
2) It's on the small side. 1/2 to the full size of the pot would be better. 3) Raise some. |

the check on the flop is not to hope to improve, betting this flop only gets calls from hands we beat, and folds out hands we can get value from on later rounds. turn bet is too small. id probly have bet a little over half the size of the pot, less than half the pot is just inviting a check raise from a weaker hand.
push river ... only hands that beat you are j10 and aa which he wont have, and his PSB on river suggests he will call w/ something weaker |

1. I think checking the flop is fine.
2. Bet more, at least 3/4pot 3. RAISE THAT [censored] UP! |

the guy is 47 / 10 ... most donks that have those stats will call down with a queen or draw.

I definitely think you need to c-bet the flop to see where you stand. With UTG checking the flop it seems like he's on a draw with JT offsuit, JT suited (spades) or some other suited connector in spades. The way he played the hand tells me he hit his draw on the river. If he has JT, the turn gave him a double belly buster (any K or 9 completes the straight) so that explains his call on the the turn. It's possible he has a smaller pocket pair 99-JJ. But not raising the flop with that range of hands (especially) in a 6-handed game would surprise me. The pot sized bet on the river is a little confusing. It either means he missed the spade draw or hit his straight. I would lean toward calling hoping he missed his draw.

Checking the flop is fine.
I like 2/3 psb on the turn for value. Call river. |

Result of the hand: I decided to just push it.
Villian thinks for awhile....He finally calls, flipping over the ole NUTS, JTo. Standard. |

I've seen the results of this post - however:
I would cbet this this flop for a PSB. I have this heads up and it's draw heavy - if I get a call on the flop, I check. I know checking potentially gets more value, however, when the flop is draw heavy and there is an ace on board, I am more than happy to have it over with quickly (with villian folding). When you do decide to bet on the turn you made it too cheap IMO - I'm betting pot - it's still draw heavy. If I was villian in this hand - I would not be calling a pot sized bet on the flop. I might (given the double gutter) call on the turn but probably not pot. As it was you made it too cheap to get drawn out on IMO. As played, I can understand the river push. NH - Unlucky. |
