Default Do you tip when you get your hair cut?

Simply enough question- Do you give the hair dresser a tip when you get your hair cut?

How much does it usually cost to get your hair cut... and if you tip, how much is the tip usually?

I was having a debate with my roommate where he said he never tips, and I always thought it was about as customary as tipping a waiter.

Woohoo I got my haircut TODAY for the first time in 6 months AND I tipped for the first time ever, £3 on a £17 cut. Do I win a prize? (Of course this coincidence is somewhat lessened by the fact that this thread comes up pretty much every month.)

Not usually. My hair cuts cost $35. For the last couple of years I had one hairdresser and I gave her a Xmas tip last year. Since she didn't end up sleeping with me I won't be giving her one this year.

Your hairdresser hates you.

As she should...

White,

Great post. Here are a few other things I've been wondering about lately.

Do you tip pizza delivery guys?

What's the deal w/ tip jars at Starbucks and other places like that?

Do movers or guys who deliver/install stuff at your house need to be tipped?

What about when I pick up food from a restaurant, do I need to tip then?

Anyway, glad you made this post, these are questions I've been wondering about for a long time, but just haven't had a good opportunity to discuss them.
