JTs in middle position
The button in this hand was very laggy - so no need to worry about his preflop raise. Anyone have any comments on this hand?

Re: JTs in middle position
I'm no LHE expert but I really hate the river bet.
CO could have easily opened with A9 or any PP right? Probably get called by a better hand 95% of the time. |

Re: JTs in middle position
I don't mind the river bet as we might fold a better high card hand here enough in a 6.25bb pot...

Re: JTs in middle position
I think the river bet's fine. Since the flop was checked around, villain has two plausible flush draws and is surely folding a better hand 1 in 7 times.
Edit: I like the flop check too. A laggy CO is going to raise you and leave you heads up and out of position with J-high way too often to make this a profitable bet. |

Re: JTs in middle position
Yep, I checked the flop to avoid being isolated.
Given the general lack of enthusiasm for the board, I figured my opponent was on a draw. I'd have heard from a 9 or a pocket pair by now, unless he was particularly sneaky. And a bet was my only chance to take down the pot on the river. Unfortunately he called me down with AK - nice call sir Thanks for the sanity check, as after the fact I began to doubt my river bet. |

I dont mind the river bet either. He could have taken one off on a draw.
I bet the flop 100% of the time though. |

Re: JTs in middle position
I like the check. The LAG will bet here (and you can raise the field) enough to make up for the rare times he checks behind.

No way. You have OESD with two overs and a LAG who could isolate which is awesome. At that point you could have as many as 14 outs, probably an effective 11, and I'm perfectly happy with that. And if CO doesn't raise, chances are decent that you get enough calls for it to be a value bet. I bet this flop 100% of the time in this situation. Which I also think makes the river bet better since the pot is bigger and you've represented a hand better. I don't think the river bet in this pot has any chance of folding a guy who called on the turn. The only hand you'll fold here is one you already beat...i.e. 67. Off chance you fold QJ, but not enough to take a shot at a pot < 7 BB. - C - |
