Re: Interesting but Common River Decision
I think I would bet. He might have been drawing at a gut shot with an A but he still might call the river bet with A high figuring that you were just stealing on this ugly board. He'll also call a lot of 1 pair/pp hands.

Re: Interesting but Common River Decision
My default line is to bet but I was thinking of check call as possibly a better line.
The two flat calls and the texture of the flop seems that I shouldnt be getting to many calls on the river. But I might induce a bet from a missed draw. Also what I failed to consider at the time is what happened, he raised me and i called and he had flopped the str8. he didnt raise the tuen because of the sb was still in the pot. So I feel like a check call might be the highest ev play. Thoughts? |

Hey Rol -
I think you're pretty good based on previous encounters: WTF? If I be checkin i def. be raisin. Him not raising the turn is just bad poker. |

Re: Interesting but Common River Decision
the fact remains that he has you beat like 0% of the time even if you're inducing a bluff a large percentage of the time. so obviously he cant call the raise when you induced a bluff, but what if he has a pair? the point of checking is that you can get 2 bets from made hands and 1 bet from hands that wouldn't call a bet (sometimes). the point of betting is that you can get a guaranteed 1 bet from made hands, and that is what i care about most in unraised pots when i have a monster on the river.
