Deer Hunting (Question)
You guys who hunt,
If you see an adult female deer (doe), and her newborn is nearby, will you go ahead a shoot the doe leaving the baby to fend for itself? [This doesn't have to apply to deer; any animal with a baby will do. I'm just curious if you'd have any qualms about knowingly making a baby animal an orphan.] |

Re: Deer Hunting (Question)
By hunting season a fawn can fend for itself, so yes. I would actually consider shooting the fawn because they taste better.

Re: Deer Hunting (Question)
Of course, you don't make a super fawn without some character building.

Re: Deer Hunting (Question)
I believe the correct answer is having a buddy take out the fawn while you pop the doe
...But I don't hunt. |

Re: Deer Hunting (Question)
I've never been deer hunting, but everyone I know does it.
My understanding is that if you go deer hunting and shoot a doe, you're a pud. Also, many places only let you harvest a doe by drawing a special tag, otherwise you can only legally shoot a buck. |

Also, many places only let you harvest a doe by drawing a special tag, otherwise you can only legally shoot a buck. [/ QUOTE ] It depends on the local deer population. This year in Northern WI, doe tags were unlimited and $2 apiece. |

That sounds crazy/unbelievable. |

Re: Deer Hunting (Question)
Due to my lack of love for Disney movies, the fawn and the newborn would both catch a bullet.

You can shoot either a doe or a buck with the regular tag, but only a doe with the doe tag. They're way overpopulated, and the idea is to try and cut down on their numbers. Shooting doe does this more effectivly. |
