I probably butchered the hand every street, but did I miss a bet on the river? Villain has not been out of line at all and I was scared of an overpair w/ his line. New to limit cash, so many leaks still learning.

Fold PF. I'm not cold calling small suited connectors unless it's 10 to the flop.
Raise the flop. Find out where you stand. If re-raised I think you need to call down as long as turn and river are safe. Seeing how you didn't raise the flop I think it's fine to raise here but a little late. Bet river. |

Are these (SC) ever in your 3 bet range preflop (in position)? I guess it's opponent/table specific?

3-bet pf, raise flop. Rest of the hand plays itself.

Fold preflop, 89s doesn't have the implied odds it needs in this position. Raise flop with TP and bet river with your boat, you'll probably get called with a lot of hands that you beat.

PF- This an easy fold. Cold calling with a SC is not a great play unless every flop is like 7-8 handed. Your getting horrible odds and don't have great implied odds either.
Flop- Raise. See if he has an overpair or just overs. Turn- Fine. However, it's hard to gauge where you are in the hand b/c the 4 is a scare card for any over pairs. River- Bet. Your gonna be ahead here enough of the time. |

But I don't see how 3 betting > folding > cold calling. [/ QUOTE ] One should not 3-bet here often. If one wishes to use "deception" then one could 3 bet here. It would be for "metagame" purposes. I have read about "deception" and "metagame" in various respectable sources. But raising is likely not the course one should normally take with this hand. One should cold call here never, and fold with great frequency. |
