Low limit poker games in/around Portland, OR?
One of my players will be in Portland next week and I was wondering if there was any place for him to play.
I checked out CardPlayer's room locator, the rooms nearby all seemed pretty small (3-4 tables- I presume they were part of casinos) I searched in B&M for the last 6 months, found info about 2/4 NL and $10/20 limit games. Are there any recommendations for a lower-limit player? Any info about tourneys would be appreciated also. Thanks LL |

Re: Low limit poker games in/around Portland, OR?
The only real low limit hold'm games around Portland are up in La Center WA at the small Casinos up there. I have heard mixed things about them. The bad is that there aren't a lot of tables and that collusion happens possibly between regulars. The good is that they are right next to Portland and like most live games, pretty fishy.
the best low limit games, in my experience (and I'm biased cause I only really play those games) are down at Spirit Mountain in Grande Ronde, which is about an hour and a half from Portland. If I want a low limit game, I usually go to Spirit, or set one up at home. But your player may want to try the casinos in La Center (just past Vancouver WA. maybe half hour from Portland) |

The special olympics of poker are routinely held at spirit mountain's 2/4 & 3/6 tables on a nightly basis. That's all you really need to know.

The two LaCenter card rooms frequently have 2 hour waiting lists and allow smoking. You'll rarely wait longer than a half hour at Spirit and it's a smoke free cardroom. Spirit also spreads 1-2NL and sometimes 2-5NL, while LaCenter is limit only. Both places plenty fishy which always made Spirit the easy choice for me when I lived in Portland.

Re: Low limit poker games in/around Portland, OR?
The last frontier usually spreads two 3-6 and 4-8 games with a full kill, and one or two 10-20 games. The other casino, Chips, is pretty terrible in my opinion. The dealers aren't quite as good. The felts are worn. The bonus lame, etc. etc.
