i don't know if i like the river fold either. if i'm gonna fold i want it to be after betting and seeing it get raised and 3-bet.
your river check kidna says "no flush". so maybe the bettor is betting a set and the raiser is raising a smaller flush. who knows. i don't like it. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree, but I'd be shocked given the recent spate of self-admiration if hero folded the winner. Sometimes confusing your opponents makes them predictable, other times not-- and it's risky against unknown online players. |

should i play this hand differently? and if so how and why. [/ QUOTE ] I still prefer 3betting preflop in this situation to get the BB out. I think theres a lot of value in increasing your chances of winning this pot unimproved, enough value to overcome the negative issues of 3betting here IMO. Yadda yadda yadda, Im sure youve heard that speech before. Given that you coldcalled preflop I would play the flop just like you did, its time to try to win this pot unimproved, so a checkraise for elimination is standard here for me. Turn is close between calling the 3bet and capping. Given the texture of the board I think I like capping better, but I see nothing wrong with taking the conservative route and just calling the 3bet. Like others I dont understand your river play. I think bet/calling here is the standard line here. I am interested in your thought process behing your "check out of nowhere" river play. |

It turned out that the check-raise had an elimination chance, but it was thin.Usually,in this situation, with the pre-flop raiser on left, you have a better chance of eliminating somebody by betting out. Then if utg raises, maybe this will "bounce"the button out.

[/ QUOTE ] I disagree with you, I think checkraising the flop will give the hero a higher chance of winning the pot UI than betting out. And IMO, the strategy that wins the pot UI the most often will be the best play here. I do think though that what were talking about here is very close so it probably doesnt really matter. Sometimes I will also check/call the flop with the intention of check/raising or donking the turn if the middle guy folds. |

"Im sure youve heard that speech before."
heard it? ive given it! im experimenting with cold calling from the sb sometimes, with mixed results. "I am interested in your thought process behing your "check out of nowhere" river play." i felt there was a very strong chance i was beat. people dont just cold-3 bet turns out of nowhere. |
