Pretty sure I played bad, but where?
5-10nl 6-max on Full Tilt.
Both hands are against the same villain, a 2+2er, strong winning player that also plays higher. Effective stack is 1K for both hands. Hand #1 I open in the HJ for $35 w/ Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], villain calls on the button, blinds fold. 2 players ($85) Flop: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I lead for $55, he calls. 2 players ($195) Turn: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check, he bets $160, I call? 2 players ($515) River: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I check, he pushes, I...? Comments? =============================== Hand #2 I open UTG for $35 w/ J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], only villain calls in SB. 2 players ($80) Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] He leads for $70, I call 2 players ($220) Turn: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Check, check River: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] He bets $165, I call. Too passive? Felt like I should have raised somewhere, but where? |

Re: Pretty sure I played bad, but where?
Hand 1 I fold the turn. Hand 2 looks good I guess, I don't know your history but you might want to bet the turn to 3 barrel. I wouldn't raise anywhere.

Re: Pretty sure I played bad, but where?
Can someone give some insight on why folding the turn seems like the best option? I think a call, as the hero played, has to be the best (or 2nd best option behind leading) line on the turn.
Folding the turn to any resistance after checking is just leading yourself up to be run over in the future. If you are folding overpair to a made gutty-draw on the turn I am going to float you all day long everyday. Most are going to C-bet AK there on that flop and a float would obviously work, but really? A float would work there when you have QQ? A little weak-tight to me. Villian could very well have hero beat, but IMHO, you either have to lead and make him raise you (a better sign of strength than a bet when checked to) or make him bet into you on two streets (he either has you or at least would have deserved the pot if he bluffed you on two streets) Thoughts? |

Re: Pretty sure I played bad, but where?
They're saying fold the turn in hand 1 because calling turns your hand face up and doing that out of position against a tough player is suicide. I think saying fold or call or raise is worthless without hero's image.

Re: Pretty sure I played bad, but where?
Hand 1:
Raise 40-50 preflop, Flop, PSB. Turn lead. Hand 2: I like a river raise, and would not mind getting it all in. |

I think you should raise river in hand 2.

I think you should raise river in hand 2. [/ QUOTE ] raise to what, and how do you respond to an all in? |

Re: Pretty sure I played bad, but where?
River raise in hand 3 is pretty transparent, if he is good then I'd expect him to fold worse, 3 bet better with the occasional 3 bet bluff.
