Default Back in the Day -- Party Bonus for Joining PPA - Who Benefited?

Besides us? A while back, Party offered a nice $100 bonus if you joined the PPA for about $15 or $20. Nice, easy $80-85 +EV. I was just wondering who benefited from this? Did Party just want to get more people to join PPA? Doesn't make sense since I don't think they put too much money into lobbying against the anti-online gambling legislation that just passed in the US. Did the PPA kick back their new membership fees to Party to help them cover their bonus expenses? I just can't make any sense of the economics of that bonus. Not that it matters any more. It was in Party's interest to not have this bill passed. Since the PPA was a lobby group against the bill they decided a good way to support them was to give us a bonus to join them. Then the PPA gets our membership fees AND get to say they have XXX many members who are also against this bill. The bonus did mean less money for Party as they gave us some rake back but Party has never been that stingy with bonuses. Obviously their bid failed but at least they tried.

I'm not American, so my membership probably didn't benefit either PPA or PP. I hope they used my fees for something other than my shirt and card.
