Looking for an old game
Okay. All this recent talk about older video games has made me want to locate a game I played back in college. Problem: I have no idea what it was called.
Details I remember currently: It was Multiplayer. I think there were no computer-controlled characters, either. It was Turn Based. It was played by email, or in our case, sneaker net. Each player would receive the game file, and play his turn, then submit the turn file back to the master computer, which would play the turn and generate new files for each player. We'd copy the files to floppies and walk 'em around the dorm. It was space exploration/conquest themed. Each player was a unique race. You could build ships, and there was a tech tree to advance along, which would improve future ships you built. I was playing this in the early 90s - 93, 94, somewhere around there. That's all I remember for now. I really have no idea how to look up ancient games like that. Anyone got any thoughts? I'll also be leaving for the day about now. So I'll respond to any suggestions when I get into work tomorrow. Thanks. |

VGA Planets? I remember playing this as a bbs door game >10 years ago. [/ QUOTE ] Wow. I think that's it. Right in one guess. Somehow I knew this was the right place to ask |

Masters of Orion?
I never played the early versions, but MOO3 had crappy turn-based networking, so MOO1 might've had sneaker-net or PBE. |
