What's your experience level? [/ QUOTE ] A better question might be...Are you a quick learner? If you pick up on things quickly...Get NL Theory and Practice. If you are a slow learner/reader...get Little Green Book (or the Audio Book). |

I have decent experience/steady winner at the casinos/quick learner. The thing is lately I feel like I'm starting to drift away from sound strategy and getting myself into alot of trouble. I'm looking for a book that can get me back down to earth and turn me back into a strong disciplined player again.

LGB is pretty good for fundamentals if that is what you are after, it's also very well written, Phil Gordon seems to have the knack for communicating effectively.
NLTP I think requires more work. It has more depth though. I'd prefer to have both but if I could have only one it would probably be LGB. |

Get Little Green & Little Blue. Then move on to HOH 1&2.
NLH:T&P is like Shakespear - It's good, but I have to read each page three times before I know what it's talking about. |

personally, i think you'll enjoy LGB much, much more, especially if you're somewhat new to no-limit.
NLTP is tough sledding (i have to often open to halfway thru the book as i can't get into the beginning). FWIW, if i had to pare my whole poker collection down to 3 books, i think it would be Harrington 1 and 2 and Little Green Book.... might substitute something else in for harrington 2 though (especially if they moved the continuation bet section to #1 where it belongs, and they say so). |

harrington 1 & 2 are the best. the others are just not nearly as good. however nlt&p is far superior to lgb (which i think people here over rate).
if your problem is discipline then inside the poker mind would help. |

I haven't read LGB, but I thought NLTAP was fantactic. In fact, after reading it I realy felt like I hadn't understood NL properly before, even though I'd read HoH 1 & 2 multiple times.
I also didn't find it hard to read at all. Easier than TOP, though a little more difficult than SSHE (which might just be the most well written poker book I've ever read). After HoH and NLTAP, I feel that my game NLHE game is as well rounded and informed as I can hope from reading books. |
