The 3rd hour of a $330 buy-in tournament at Commerce with 550 entries. Everyone at my table is playing TAG. Every hand is raised preflop and usually folded around. We haven't seen very many flops. Villain is the Button and is supertight or card dead. He's played maybe 2 hands in the past 2 hours.
Blinds are at $50-$100. Hero has t2200, villian has t1100. Folded to Hero in MP with pocket 10's. Hero raises to t300. Folded to Villian on the Button who pushes all in for t1100. Blinds fold back to Hero. I haven't seen Villian make a move like this yet nor has he shown down a hand yet. My chipstack is about average (started at t1500). easy call or easy fold? |

Getting ~1.9:1 on the call, if his shoving range is JJ+, AQs+...
Pretty thin spot, so either/or. Although I'm sure I could find a better spot than a squeaky TAG. He capable of bluffshoving? |

1550 in the pot and 800 more to you to call, you're getting 2:1. If you think he will do it with AKo as well as AKs (besides obvious QQ+) - it's a pot odds call.

I don't know about "easy" but the 2-1 odds against a shorty makes this a call for me. Hero needs to get some chips and this looks like a good spot.

Assign a range and plug it into pokerstove and compare to pot odds. This is a pure math problem.

Good point. If I give him a range of 99+, AQs, AKo, AKs I'm about 41% to win so it's an easy call. The problem is if he's as tight as he looks and I give him a range of JJ+ and AK, my winning % drops to 33%. That makes this a really thin call.

I'm assuming you can find a better spot if you decline to call. |

I can't imagine even a tight player passing on 88/99/AQ with 11xBB.

Me either, but you have to introduce weighting trending towards specific shades of a range somewhere before making the call.
