Default WPEX Next Improvements Thread October 2006

This thread is intended to provide a fresh place to put improvement suggestions for the WSEX GM. PLEASE keep the BS in other threads.

After this thread has run it's course I intend to set up some polls so we can prioritize the improvements we are requesting.

WPEX has rolled out several upgrades since the last time we had this thread. I've pulled most unimplemented suggestions out of that thread and put them below.

#1 priority in my book is to fix the software lag. It's a bit ridiculous that this is still a problem when a solution as simple as changing the shortcuts installed on everyone's computer to start wpex.exe in high priority has been documented here repeatedly. Come on! Fix this one. I just tested this to see if it's still a problem: yep, running a Poker Tracker import while playing is asking for serious trouble, but setting the priority to high solved the issue.

#2 for me is 6-max tables. I believe there is good logic and a lot of people behind moving to 6-max, and I will demonstrate it later via poll.

#3 Make the cards by my seat bigger and more noticeable

#4 Improve turn notification. Make it so the table comes to the front when you get cards, but it doesn't steal the focus from other programs. I.e. if I'm writing on 2+2, I don't want my typing to be pulled into the chatbox. Make the action buttons (ie check, raise, etc..) a brighter more noticeable color. Give us more choices on what sounds we want.

#5 Offer heads-up tables.

#6 Give us a "Wait for Big Blind" checkbox when we sit down at a table.

#7 improve the hand history viewer. When I click the 'last hand' link on the table it should bring up that hand in the viewer.

#7 Offer options for your graphics package, make the holdemreview mod with a 4 color deck one of the options.

#8 Offer T-shirts, hats and other promotional gear in exchange for player points.

#9 Make the clickable area for the 'Sit out next hand' check box smaller, so people are less likely to accidentally click it.

Sportsbetting.

1) Make it easier to go from Poker to Sprtsbetting
- If I click on Sportsbook from the poker site, don't make me log in again.
- Have the sportsbook internet site open in a NEW window not over a window I currently have open.

[/ QUOTE ]

#11 Resizeable tables

#12 Improve the player notes feature: make it so that your note reliably and quickly pops up when you click on somebody.

Currently you can double bet in open pair on 4th in Stud8, that needs to be fixed.

Instead of daily freerolls, put together single weekly or monthly freeroll tournies on an invite only basis to your sportsbook customers who've bet X amount for the week, month, quarter, etc.

This would incent your sports bettors to dabble in poker without risk and reward the poker players who've become sports book customers. This should also draw a larger portion of the poker playing clientele to the book.

Seeding the poker/sportsbook people with the occasional unsolicited shirt (I'd suggest collared instead of a t-shirt) would build great word of mouth. 200 shirts mixed into confirmed sports bettors who signed up via the poker room could have a surprising effect in bringing new players/bettors to the site.

#14 When you click on the chip tray and then 'More Options', the popup 'Options' window then prevents you from doing anything else on any WPEX window, including your tables. Please, let us click 'Bet' or 'Fold' while the Options window is open.

Fix the delay when opening up new tables.

I don't know how many times I've been on a waiting list to play on a different table and then when I get the pop up message saying my seat is ready, I close one of my 4 tables only to find out I can't open the new table as the system thinks I have 4 tables open still.

Eventually it will let me add another table but it's not before the 60 seconds I have to join runs out, then not only is my seat given away to the next on the list but I can't go back on my old table as someone took my old seat.

Very annoying, it's not like i can just pop onto another table at random because there is only about 4-5 going at the level I want.

Please don't sort out the blind structure. If you understand the adjustments you have to make, its so profitable.

i don't play at WPEX, and this thread is an indication of the reason why. seriously, how long has this place been going, yet still has these incredibly basic issues? what, does their programming team consist entirely of Sally the WSEX cleaning lady, who's been doing night classes in software design? maybe once she reaches week 47 of her course you'll have something decent.

lol crappysoftwareaments.

by the way, have the horrible disconnects been sorted yet? surprised they're not mentioned here, or is this a whole special class of desired improvements?

I don't play o WSEX because of the focus issue. Also the cards are annoying just make them bigger near your name liek ever other site, it's what we're used to.

Make the cards by my seat bigger and more noticeable and do away with the large cards at the bottom of the table, they only confuse me after I've already folded a hand.

I like the cards at the bottom. If and when WPEX actually gets some fish to stop by these cards at the bottom will tilt some people. Having to look at the 69 you folded on a flop of 999 may get some people to call with that 69 in the future.
