Shawne Merriman on the juice.

Out 4 games. Merriman's positive test was "definitely for steroids … not one of those supplement deals" said a source with knowledge of Merriman's suspension. I can't say Im surprised, but it's pretty dissapointing.

[/ QUOTE ] I dunno why anyone is really surprised or disappointed when they find out a professional athlete is taking performance enhancing drugs. Who among us would not take steroids if it meant earning millions of dollars more than we would otherwise? This really sucks donkey balls for the Chargers. He is one of the best players on the team. I believe Carlos Polk will replace him and this will mean an astronomical downgrade in pass rush production. If Merriman stops taking Steroids, it could mean a big drop in his abilities. When you take steroids for extended periods, a negative feedback loop halts your body's natural production of anabolic hormones and it takes a few weeks to reset--of course he'll be sitting at home on the couch for some or all of that time. In the longer term, he would lose power and explosiveness. What a terrible day for Chargers fans.
