Default FW 20/40 hand vs. Nick M.

Foxwoods 20/40. A horribly loose regular limps UTG, another horribly loose regular limps in MP, Nicky raises on the button, SB folds, I call in BB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], they call. Four way pot.

Flop J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Checked to Nick who bets, I call, others fold. Heads up.

Turn 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

I check, he checks.

River Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

I check with the intention of calling.

I don't know Nicky, but against most regular passive live players I'm bet/folding this river.

he's not really passive.. hes pretty TAG.. kinda nitty. he plays the FW 20/40 style game very well.. but in small HU thinking pots like this, he's nothing special IMO.

He's been discussed on this forum several times before. He's the winningest player in the history of the 20/40 game at Foxwoods. He plays pretty TAG. He's certainly not a great poker player by any means, but plays this particular game very well and knows all of the regular players and their tendencies.

By checking, you are basically resigning yourself to showing down the best hand, or paying off a better one. Bet here and hope he calls with a pocket pair or A-K that checks behind.

I disagree. This player is not checking behind, and he will stab at the river with A high. I like the OP's play this time.
