Default Yanks\' Lidle was poker fanatic

Earlier this year, Lidle hosted a charity tournament for make-a-wish and raise 150k. He was known to be an avid poker player and maybe the most notable public player of any American pro athlete.

I heard them mention on sports center that he loved poker and shooting pool. I wonder if he played on the internet or in any wsop events.

The WSOP is in the middle of the baseball season so I would go with 'no' on that one. I highly doubt that he played on the internet either however high stakes clubhouse poker games are highly common before games (and between Ricky Henderson and Bobby Bonilla in extra innings of the Mets 1999 playoff run) and I am sure he played in those.

I had heard about his charity poker tournament and by all accounts he seemed like a pretty good guy.

He was always willing to speak his mind and he had no qualms about calling out Barry Bonds or players on his team who weren't playing hard. To hear a little bit of Corey Lidle's attitude listen to THIS CLIP (Halfway down page) of an October 9th interview with Mike and the Mad Dog (local sports radio)

That's not really true. He tended to throw his pervious teams under the bus after he left. It's sad that he died, but he wasn't without faults by a long shot.

Dids,
Please outline all of your team sport experience for us. I think you probably have no idea what is like to be on a competitive team that has someone giving less than 100% effort.

I have always thought you have well reasoned posts, but I think trashing a guy whose family has just been through a tradegy like this is weak.
