6MAX EDUCATION: Value Beting 101
As a complete NL newb I've been reading the posts and have been datamining like crazy as I get ready to start at NL100 6max.
I thought it might be easier for many of the less expierenced lurkers on here if I started several "6Max 101" type threads and then the more skilled and expierenced players post hands in which they used the above skill and hopefully explain their thinking on the given hand. One could also post value bets gone bad etc. If this seems incredibly retarded then feel free to delete. I'm thinking the following threads might be good 6MAX EDUCATION: Value Beting 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Blocking Bets 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Using Position 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Firing the Second Barrel 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Playing Mid Pairs 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Playing OPP 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Floating 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Peeling 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Thin Value Bets 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Smart Bluffs 101 6MAX EDUCATION: Using PAHud on the Turn/River 101 6MAX EDUCATION: ???? 101 Any others that you guys think might be useful? |

Re: 6MAX EDUCATION: Value Beting 101
there is a point at which looking at HH's becomes less useful than playing, id sugest playing a few sessions and posting hands where you felt like you missed an opportunity to make one of those plays.

Re: 6MAX EDUCATION: Value Beting 101
Hmm...there are tons of different types of value bets, be it thin or easy. Here are a few examples where I think ssnlers may be missing some:
For all examples, assume 100bb stacks, 6max, no real reads to speak of. AKo, you raise PF, you get one caller. Flop comes A74r. he checks, you bet, he calls. Turn comes Tx, he checks and calls your bet again. River comes 3 and he checks. This should be a value bet everytime. A8dd, you raise PF, get a caller. flop comes 7d3dKx. he checks and calls a bet. Turn comes Tx. He checks and you check. River comes Kd, he bets. This should be a raise generally. You lose value by just calling this river. Can't really think of too many others at the top of my head. You hold 67s, raise pf. villan calls. flop comes J73r, villan leads into you. you call, going for a float/steal on the turn. turn comes Tx, he checks and calls your bet. river comes 6, he checks. This is always a bet. Anyways, I know these examples are very generalized and not always set in stone, I just see some situations where some really easy value bets are missed. I know there are alot of other situations which I missed. Again, these are just general examples, and folds, raises, etc can be found somewhere occassionally. |

Sure, why don't you start us off? [/ QUOTE ] lol Yeah..this is why I didn't even really want to post this lol. I'm such a newb--thus to really even understand what a value bet is I'd probably have to do a search or google it. Hell I don't even know what a peel is. Basically I was looking for posters who wanted to to post what they considered a smart value bet and explain the reasoning in the given hand behind it. Of course people could chime in etc on each others hands etc. And once I sit down next weekend I could post some hands of my own but to be honest...I have no fing clue what I'm doing when at a 6max table. Basically got the idea from the weekly happy thread..which could be called 6MAX EDUCATION: How to Stack a Donk 101 |

Re: 6MAX EDUCATION: Value Beting 101
I would start out at NL25.
I personally struggle with river situations where I feel like I probably have the best hand, but I know I cant stand a raise so I check. I often miss value bets in this fashion. |
