5/10 pokerroom. game is being played loose and fast. its 4 handed. im running like 36/29 this session.
villain has solid pf stats (something like 22/12/2.5) but he is [censored] weird postflop. he has this crazy tendency to overbet the pot. like, the pot will be 105, and he'll just bet 300. or he'll just go all in on the river for no reason. he hasnt really shown down alot so i dunno wtf is going on really. i have 1800 and he covers. i open JTo from utg/co and villain calls on the button. bb donk calls. flop is T65r. check, i bet 75. villain calls. bb folds. turn q. i bet 180. he calls. river 5. i bet 300. is this that awful? |

I dont really see a problem with it. He has not shown any aggression on the flop or turn, which would rule out a set usually(one would think villain would want to get money into the pot). That being said, I suppose he could have a few 10's with a better kicker, possinly 1 worse. He may have 77-99 here. I suppose he could have JJ, but seems unlikely if he is solid preflop.
that being said, I dont mind this line, although I would prefer c/c on the river. Allow him to bet worse hands/bluff. Avoid getting reraised(I assume you would have to fold to a river reraise). If he shoves river, or overbets river, we are going to have a serious decision to make. He has not really defined his hand for us. It would really come down to any past hands he has played. As played, I would c/c river though to avoid getting bluffraised considering we really dont know where we stand in the hand. |

It doesn't feel right, but I can't think of much else to do instead... I would be alright with c/f river to a big bet though.

i think the weird part of this river bet is that i really dont think he ever calls with a worse hand.
