How long is Jack Binion\'s non-compete clause with Harrah\'s?
I heard some goofy off-the-wall rumor today involving Jack Binion and Steve Wynn, but don't wanna bother lathering everyone up with the details if it's pure [censored]... I need to know how long Jack's no-compete with Harrah's is to figure out if there may be any validity to it.
(Then I promise to spill.) |

I have no clue, but most are 2 years, some can go as long as 5.

The no compete clause specifically excludes Las Vegas if that has any bearing on what you heard.

Re: How long is Jack Binion\'s non-compete clause with Harrah\'s?
This is NOT a rumor.
Jack Binion has left Harrah's to run Wynn International. Wynn Macau, the first American-style mega-resort casino to be built in China (Macau is a Special Administrative Region of China), will open on September 5. http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/st...566654910.html Harrah's currently has ZERO presence in Macau. The Las Vegas Business Press did report that Harrah's is trying to buy a stake in Galaxy Casinos, which is a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Galaxy Entertainment. The Galaxy Casinos in Macau are managed by Navangate Management of Las Vegas. http://lvbusinesspress.com/articles/...ews/news01.txt http://lvbusinesspress.com/articles/...ews/news10.txt China will be the KEY BATTLE GROUND for global control of the online and TV poker industries. WPT recently signed a TV distribution contract in Macau. One would expect that WPT will hold its first televised major poker tournament at the MGM Grand Macau in 2008. |

I knew this would get olivert out.
Anyway, yes, Part 1 of what I heard is that Jack went and joined Steve Wynn in Macau. The 2nd part which I held back is I heard Jack Binion and Steve Wynn are putting together a competing series of tournaments to be run at Wynn against the WSOP, and that Doyle may be involved, and that there may be an announcement soon. |

If Doyle is involved in this competing torunament, it would explain why the WPT event @ Bellagio is no longer called the Doyle Brunson in season 5 of the the WPT.

[/ QUOTE ] That would be cool--I see the Wynn has scheduled a 10K event in March, so I assume that's not what you are referring to. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm confused...are you saying the WPT hasn't been broadcasting major televized events thus far? Or you mean the first major Asian televized event? Would one expect many American/European pros to travel to Macau to play a poker tournament? |
