Harrington on Hold'em series. If you employ good tournament strategies, chips will tend to flow in your direction.

Re: Best Book for Chip Accumulation in Tourneys Please
Thank you all very much for your posts. I picked up the Harrington series today. I seem able to get reasonably deep into a large percentage of tourneys (NLHE, HORSE, OM 8) but continue to get there short stacked, Ug. DEFINATELY (after @ 200 various tournaments) doing something wrong. It seems to me that what separates the good tournament players from someone like me is that ability to amass chips. I have found merit in the "Kill Phil" stradegy, are any of you familiar with it? Again, thank you for the help. |

Re: Best Book for Chip Accumulation in Tourneys Please
Erik Lindgren's book is exclusively about chip accumulation. In fact it belittles "survival" as a goal.
His book describes shortball super-aggressive strategies as the primary tool for accumulating lots of chips very early in the tourney. |

I agree that Lindgren's book would be worth a read. He is all about building a chip stack that will put him in position to win.

I have not yet read Poker Tournament Formula by Arnold Snyder, but my understanding is that the primary content of the book pertains to the idea that an early chip lead is paramount. It povides a mathematical analysis describing the importance of a chip advantage and gives methods for accumulating the chips.

Lindgren's book and Snyder's book are counterparts. The former is the slow tournament version while the latter is the fast tournament version.

Re: Best Book for Chip Accumulation in Tourneys Please
Kill Phil was a pretty good book on mostly accumulating chips.
