Default Team USA vs Team Italy Game

Anyone watching? Team Italy has impressed me a lot. They have great shooters, good passing, and strong team play. I wonder how the original Dream Team would have done against this team.

Carmelo is pretty sick. He gets some Hornacek lovin' now. I never appreciated his game because he lacks the sick moves that Wade and Bron Bron have. But dude can hoop.

Wade is making these guys look silly.

I think starting Battier (altho Duke-homerish) is a great move by Coach K. He is a perfect fit since he doesn't need the ball, but he can still score if left wide open, and he can hit foul shots.

Melo is the best shooter out of the three captains. He showed it with all those late game shots during the season, and showed it tonight. Way to save us from first round loss. Can't wait for medal round.

Edit: Gambling for those steals really killed the US in the first half.

I only caught the third quarter as I was getting ready for work, but man, was 'Melo impressive!

I keep waiting for LeBron to assert himself. The U.S. has been playing by and large a team game, but there certainly have been periods where one player takes over. I've only seen bits and pieces of the games, but I haven't seen LeBron take over for a stretch yet. Not to say he's been playing poorly; it's just odd to see him as a role player.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't think the international game suits him as much as the other players. Maybe its just due to his skipping college, I dunno. But he requires the ball in his hands too much, while the international game favors teams that move the ball quickly. With that said, he was dominant for a stretch in the last exhibition game.

i pretty much agree with you. its sad to see bc when he was in high school he played a fantastic floor game. when he first came to the nba he still played that style but year by year his game is evolving more into a one on one style bc thats the only way the cavs can win and thats how the nba is setup. look at mcgrady, wade, vc, dirk. lebron wants to trust his teammates but its just not the most effective way to win in the nba.

oh yea, bill simmons has mentioned this at least 10 times.
