I have only been in 1 bad 20/40 game. It had 5 2+2'ers and a solid playing regular. It only lasted about 10 minutes until I got moved to the main game and it was good as always.
The games are always good and how it plays depends on who's in the game. It can be aggro during the week and rocky on the weekends. Each of the games going may all play different. There are the loose/passive calling stations, there are the mindless LAG's, the brain deads, the total fishes, the rocky weak/tights, some kids that think they know how to play, but don't, a few regulars are thinking LAG's. There are also a number of solid regulars, but you won't usually have more than 1 or 2 at a table. You'll need to learn who is who, so you know who to 3-bet when they raise, who to fold to, who to bluff and who to value bet. |

[/ QUOTE ] exactly what barry said. oh, and btw, FW 20/40 is a goldmine, if i didnt go to school full time i'd be there every single day. you need a huge roll, but you should always have a huge roll if you take the game seriously and its a big/entire part of your income. going busto is usually not good. p.s. if you can get a mixed game going on a weekend night you'll be even richer. (assuming you can play other games well.) |

Could I ask you 20/40 regulars to expand on your conclusions that the game is a gold-mine whereas 10/20 is "terrible"? What exactly is so bad about the 10/20 game? Would you describe it as safe and easy, but not terribly profitable because of the abundance of grey-haired rocks?
I'm a semi-regular at FW (2xweek or so) and I've been playing 10/20 for about 2 months now. Overall, I am a winner at the game so far, but I wouldn't say I'm killing it. I also still play 4/8 occasionally, because I honestly find it more fun. It's not quite as profitable, but for me it's closer than the stakes gap would suggest. I can get away with playing more hands there, and I drag far more really big pots. I have the funds to play 20/40, but I don't think I'll be trying it for awhile. At 10/20, the few thinking LAGs (particularly the very aggressive ones) are the players who give me fits. I always seem to be missing bets against them one hand and making a bad call the next. Based on your description, it seems to me like 20/40 is full of players like that (notably yourselves) and I really don't want to swim in those waters any time soon. On the other hand, I recognize that, while the disproportionate number of rocks at the 10/20 game are easy to stay out of trouble against, they aren't going to make me much money either. -Mike |

When I first played that game I played really weak-tight and it was enough to win and win well. good luck, PM me if you got any specific Q's. |

Im not that good of a player:_> which to me i think the reason that im killing the 20/40 game. It's a dangerous game and I think its very important to play that game with a limit loss rather then playing time. I play the weekends so ususally will bring 2 to 4 buy ins usually i bring the max and if I lose the then i still have another 25 buy ins. |

Yep, that's the time that I was thinking of! Did you remember the kid Joe that went on a rush at the table playing almost any 2? He was the main donator at my main game which wound up being my best ever session there. My old avatar was taken by MaxPower when my pyramid was 5 stories high.
