Button is a tight player (sees flop 13% and raises about half of the hands he plays).
Is it correct to call him down? Do I fold the flop? turn? river? Flop good, fold turn. With those raise numbers, at best you're hoping that he bluff-raised with AK. The vast majority of the time you're drawing to two or less outs.

What does the check-raise accomplish here?

What does the check-raise accomplish here? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I agree. F this. I check-fold the flop against this TAG. We are behind a huge percentage of time here. |

What does the check-raise accomplish here? [/ QUOTE ] With only one paint card, it's reasonably likely that the button is sitting there with AQ, AK, KQ, maybe 99/TT and thinking "Ah, crap...well I'm supposed to c-bet so I'll bet." He bets, and we checkraise with the best hand to blow away the field and make it less likely that a T on the turn or whatever will sink us. I don't care for it five handed, but HU this is certainly a good move (he'll likely fold or call unprofitably), and it's hardly a bad idea three handed. Four's getting iffy but I might do it, but here I think there's just too many hole cards to dodge. |

I can dig the flop play, but you're beat on the turn here practically always.
After you check and he bets the river you're beat even more often. |

I would prefer to raise 88 when opening from MP. Many others do not. As played, you did a good job of protecting your hand on the flop.
When the Q comes on the turn, you are behind to about 80% of his pf raising range (TT+, AJ+, KQ), you are ahead of only AK. I agree with the other posters. Fold this turn. |

Preflop call is okay, but I'm not a fan of the b/c on the flop. Button is representing strength, probably a high PP, so we have to figure we are beat here. Seeing the flop was a decent move because the pot was big, but I might have considered folding after button's raise also.
