Default So hot - what should I eat?

It is currently about 85 degrees outside, and about 82 degrees in my room. Although this isn't the hottest day of the summer, it is hot and the thought of eating my normal lunch dishes sounds horrible. Normally I would be eating maybe a burger for lunch, or a couple slices of pizza from the local market.

Sandwiches are good, but I have had a ton of those this summer so they are getting a little old.

I'm also not a huge salad fan although fruit salad is absolutely delicious.

So, what I ask of OOT are suggestions for great summer meals (lighter is probably better) that I can enjoy for the last month or two of the season.

Fruit salad, like you mentioned, is good. I get it one or two days per week at work. Cold sandwiches are pretty good too. Either standard coldcuts that you can make yourself or something like Cosi if you want to have it made. Their buffalo chicken is very good and I like their bread.

kip,

Here's a simple, delicious one. Actually, it's a standard meal of mine, just that I change "hot" to "cold."

Cold chicken breast (well-seasoned) sliced up.
Tomato cut up into slices/wedges.
Avocado cut up into slices/wedges.

Some salt/pepper, maybe a little olive oil, on the tomato and avocado.

I really like this on a hot day.

$25 later and this could be the best sandwich ever.....

I should get like 3 sandwiches out of this.

Grilled Chicken (picked up at TJ's), avocados, tomatoes, fresh baked bread (still warm), kosher salt, pepper, lime on top of the chicken, extra virgin olive oil.

Although the picture quality sucks (colors look horrible), I assure you this sandwich is the [censored]!

kipin,

The lack of bacon on that sandwich is rather disturbing.

I'm a starving college student. Anyone know the link to a food making thread?

next time try mashing the avacado up and then spreading it like butter. This allows for a more even distribution of avacado and as a bonus the other ingredients tend to stick to the bread.
