Can you show me anywhere online that confirms this, because cardplayer and the WSOP site seem to not.

I just came back from the Rio and I heard the exact same thing. I was at a 2-5 PLO game and two of the guys playing were complaining about it too.
Not sure what lead Harrah's to this decision, but I know a lot of people are not happy about it. |

Re: Event #26 $1500 PLO [{{((w/ rebuys))}}]
OK, my friend was going to play in this, so we just called the Rio.
It is true. This is NOW A REBUY TOURNAMENT. The decision was made at 5 P.M. tonight. They offered no reason. The structure will be the same as the other rebuy tournaments: Can rebuy at the beginning. Everyone can double rebuy at the end of the rebuy period. We didn't ask about the length of the rebuy period. We also didn't ask when you can rebuy although I imagine it's whenever you drop below 1500 chips as usual. To realistically compete, I imagine you'd need AT LEAST $15,000 available, given the number of pros who will be trying to buy their way to a bracelet. I know there are a bunch of people from Europe who came over here SPECIFICALLY for this event, and they are now FCKED. I really can't express how retarded this is. |

Who's going to call Gaming about this one?
This would seem to be the perfect time for people to go on "strike" at the WSOP. |

Re: Event #26 $1500 PLO [{{((w/ rebuys))}}]
the thing is every PLO event besides the 10K event has always been rebuy (i guess because the chips fly a bit more than hold em). Maybe it was a mistake on the schedule. However, someone probably should have changed it in the last 6 months.

Re: Event #26 $1500 PLO [{{((w/ rebuys))}}]
Harry Demetriou just posted on FCP about this:
[ QUOTE ] I heard that todays was event was originally supposed to be a £1500 Pot Limit Omaha event with rebuys but that they misprinted the literature. This would make perfect sense as a freezeout PLO tourney would be pretty fast with only 1500 statring chips. Howvever I also heard that they were going to leave it as published (a freezeout) because of the typing omission. To be honest I believe that them changing it back to a rebuy tournament is the correct thing to do but what they should have done is highlighted it to everyone at the time of the buy in - ie they should have put notices up or printed this on the tickets. Now that it has changed I would also think that the FAIREST and most SENSIBLE thing to do is for them to make an announcement before start of play that anyone wanting a refund could withdraw and get their money back in full prior to the start of play. In fact should anyone from The WSOP read this I would actually bet that it would be odds on that they announce refunds available prior to the start of play for all who want them. It would be the VERY LEAST they could do. {/quote] |
