Default check behind turn when i hit

I used to bet turn pretty much every time but recently I've been doing this about half the time, even when the flush draw doesn't hit on the turn.

Villain is 50/7/.84

If you dont trust your opponent this is a fine "get to the showdown cheaply" line. Against a player you can trust who will call you down with any pair, your turn line will cost you alot of money. Against the opponent in your hand I would bet the turn.

This is a good play against aggressive opponents who will fire away whenever you show weakness, not this guy. You make money against this player by value betting them at every opportunity.

At the time I didn't have his stats, so I prolly shouldn't have posted them I guess. Against an unknown what do you think of this play, b/c it means I never have to fold cause or c/r.

I dont play at paradise, so I dont know what a typical unknown plays like there. But against an unknown on the 10-20 party game, I prefer taking the showdown route, so I would check the turn and call the river with absolutely no read.

True, you don't have a stats-based read, but you know one important thing: he open limped. And then he check-called. This is a good sign that he is a weak, calling-stationish player. Value bet him.

Well you gotta ask yourself: what could this guy have? What would he limp with that would justify a call?

5/6; 6/7
flush draw
small pocket, including made set
Axs including A2 and A6
A10
QJ, Q10, Q9s

I'd say it's about 50/50 that you are ahead once the Jack of hearts hit.

Pros to checking: cheaper when behind, allows you to catch up for free, may induce a river bluff that wouuld otherwise have folded.

Cons to checking: allowing VIllain to suck out on you when they would have folded to a turn bet, then paying them off on the river. Missing a turn bet that they would have called (either still drawing or still behind). Giving the Villain an opportunity to bluff you off the hand with a c/r (let's say he has a pair of sixes but also holds the ace of hearts).

Final analysis: check if you are conservative and want to keep your variance to a smaller bandwidth; bet if you are aggressive and don't mind greater swings. (Bigger wins; bigger losses, but same result over time).

50/50 IMO.
