Portugal vs Iran

Since apparently there aren't any iranians on this site I'll start this thread so I can celebrate with the other only portuguese poster on this site (is there one?).

Nice game by Portugal, looking solid. Ronaldo is playing well, but he can do much better than "well". Nice game by Figo.

You really thought that was a solid showing?

I thought Portugal looked like a group of great individuals playing as a mediocre team. The only reason you'll likely face Netherlands is because the Mexican team is playing just a sub-par. If Portugal doesn't turn it around, they are going to have serious trouble with whoever they face in the 2nd round.

Also, kurosh and baronzeus are both Persian.

portugal played terrific defense and had a nice number of goal scoring opportunituies, so I'm happy with that. I agree we have to do better to beat holland/argentina but that usually happens big games.

I only saw an inadequate replay, but what's with the commentator saying Figo's penalty was a 100% planned dive? if so, I hope they all suffer painful and humilating defeat.

the commentator is an idiot, it was a very clear penalty.
