Default Venetian Freeroll Qualifications and Radio Contests

Note: I know there is a topic on poker operations at the Venetian and the freeroll is part of it but that long thread has degenerated into about 50 of the same questions about smell and games spread so I'm starting another one on the freeroll since it seems to have not been fully explained.

Venetian Poker Room Questions Thread

When the head of poker room operations was asked about whether anyone who did not log the required time (50 hrs/ms. for 3 mos. or 200 hours over the entire 3 mo. period) could qualify for the freeroll, this was his reply:

[ QUOTE ]
6. no one will be allowed to enter that does not qualify. The way the qualifications standard are set up a player would have to get the 200 hours. It is imperative that players monitor the hours to see where they are so they aren't short one hour in a month. I've got the line set at 350 total players for the event.

[/ QUOTE ]

Last night, I hear on ESPN Radio that they are having a promotion. The 3rd caller gets in on a 50 person mini-tournament ESPN is holding. The TOP THREE receive entries into the Venetian freeroll.

I do not believe that Lee's responses to the questions about the freeroll were answered sufficiently. Clearly, there is at least one way to get in without logging up to 200 hours at that table. If you are good with your speed dial and can take down 47 out of 50 players in this mini-tournament, you're in.

I apologize for the confusion. The question was related to possible improprieties with tourament entries which I assure is not happening. Among all of our various promotions is the 920am satelitte tournament in which we will be awarding the three seats.

Any other "Promotions" that will be "Awarding" seats into the freeroll?

I was told by some that you might be putting some VIP's in (who did not log the hours). I did not think too much of these stories at first, but now that we have found out that the radio contest story is true, I'm starting to wonder exactly how many people the Venetian plans on putting into the freerol who did not log hours in the poker room.

ts not uncommon in these types of freerolls for VIPS to find there way in without putting in the time.

In fact i know one former Card Room manager who was fired because he tried to cover his ass when told to put casino VIPsin a freeroll without putting in the required hours. (he didn't refuse to do it - just wanted someone above him to be the one to take the blame if the [censored] hit the fan)

Lets face it it will happen at the Venetian (look he's already backpedaling).

You guys crack me up... its THREE people added for a radio promotion. I guess Hellmuth, Negreanu, et al could be trying to be the "6th caller now" for their shot...

The other promotions really shouldn't worry y'all. Lee's talking about those promotions already in progress, ie... the freeroll itself, the double food comps, reduced rake on certain games and the free bad beat jackpot.

I for one am glad Lee stepped up to the plate in making himself available to the 2+2 gang. He's a big boy and doesn't need me defending him. But I will say that this concern over "added players" seems to be a bit on the nit-picky side.

How do you say it Howard? ... YMMV

Thats three people added for this radio promotion. Of course three days ago no one here new of these three. How many more will be added? The fact that they are willing to add these three (which was not announced to people before hand) is very telling.

Nothing has ever been mentioned about allowing VIP's into the tournament without qualifying.

I don't get it.

1) I was told about the radio adds from some dealers. I asked Lee in a recent 2+2 thread if it were true that anyone who did not play in the Venetian poker room would get into the freeroll.

3) He said, "No Way".

Now he says yes.

What's going on here?
