Party $25 - AJ hits trips on river - facing all-in.
Hi.
The other guy is 18/5/3 over about 160 hands. Should I have played this differently?? lead the flop, checkraise the flop, do something!
You really don't know where you're at on the river since you've gained zero information That being said, I call and expect to win the majority of the time |

Re: Party $25 - AJ hits trips on river - facing all-in.
Above post says it all; horribly passive play - bet flop, bet turn; don't have this situation on the river. I would probably call as played but I would slap myself a few times for not rasing before.

Re: Party $25 - AJ hits trips on river - facing all-in.
As played, bet less on river and fold as fast as you can when he pushes.
BUT. Raise preflop. Bet flop. Bet turn. Re-evaluate river. The only way you could have played it worse, is to open push preflop. |

Re: Party $25 - AJ hits trips on river - facing all-in.
Given the way the hand played out, I'm folding here. You've made no attempt to define this pot as yours, you have no idea as to mp2's true hand strength and right now, you don't have that much invested.
I doubt I'm playing AJ UTG in a FR game to begin with, but if I'm playing it, I'm coming in for a raise PF. I would lead the flop for 1/2 - 2/3 the pot. I can't really speak for the rest of the streets, because there's too many unknowns. |

Fold preflop.
If you must play it - raise. This hand is a good example of why. Then pot flop and see what happens. |

Re: Party $25 - AJ hits trips on river - facing all-in.
Raise this up preflop - limping here is terrible...
Bet/raise the flop, you need to collect vital information here that will help you with the rest of the hand. I might fold the river - I might call the river - depends on my read. I'd never be in this situation because I'd gather more information on earlier streets. -Tick P.S. If you insist on calling a min bet on the flop after not raising preflop and hitting your hand - raise the turn. |

Re: Party $25 - AJ hits trips on river - facing all-in.
We don't want to open up this arguement again, but limping preflop is TERRIBLE. Fold it, or raise it if you reallllly want to play it.
Lead the flop As played, lead the turn As played, fold the river. He has a boat here, what, 97.48795 of the time |

Re: Party $25 - AJ hits trips on river - facing all-in.
Why bother playing this hand if you're not going to bet when you hit a flop?
You're limping this here and not betting because you know it's a problem hand so you should just fold it. |

Why does he have to have a boat here?
Hero has shown very little strength throughout the hand |
