Default Sunday NY Times Magazine 5000 word article on online poker

6 internet pages is about 5000 words, right?
Anyway, not sure what to make of this. The author profiles a 19 year old college kid who is also a compulsive gambler and whose poison is online poker. It's error filled yet well written and researched but slanted in a way to make it sound like anyone could become a compulsive gambler. Bankroll and money management are the least of this kid's problems. Worth reading. There is a lot of misinformation out there. Poker Players Alliance certainly has it's work cut out for it.

I don't get how all these people get addicted to this game. If I could not make money from this I would never play. It's so boring.

Wrong.

[ QUOTE ]
Most winning poker players are either immune to the action rush or know to keep their cravings in check: they fold between 60 and 80 percent of their hands without making a single bet.

[/ QUOTE ]

You have to fold 60% of your hands to be a winning player? Pretty wild stuff in this article.

The moral? Don't play poker or you'll end up robbing a bank. If you're a fish that is. Kind of heavy handed.
