Sample size is way too small, and from what I read in your post it seems like you are playing in limits that you cannot afford.
It's not a bad thing to play .02/.04, .05/.10, and .10/.20 on stars until you have the roll to play .25/.50 for bonii. |

Read SSHE. Don't be so results oriented, I would imagine your sample size here is small. If having a bad couple of sessions, focus on fundamentals. Am I playing too many hands (u have hands chart that's good), do I calculate my outs and my pot odds during every decision.

Maybe it would help if you could be more specific about how you play. Just stating your pre-flop requirements and then describing your game as "calm" suggests that you'd be better off focusing more on theory at this point and play lower limits until you have got you basic game down.
I would also recomend against the combination of suggesting that you are inexperienced with giving out your alias on a poker forum. Good luck with the studies /d |

You need more than just starting hand charts. You need to know when and in what circumstances to play or raise different hands.
You also need to learn how to play well postflop. Everyone needs to constantly work on their postflop play ! So post and respond to some hands on this forum, and you will be well on your way to improving your win rate. |

Damn, I lost lots more then that when I was just learing.
Start at the lowest limits available, and I do mean .02/.04 at Stars. Wait until you get bored with how easy the game is to beat, then move up 1 limit, repeat. Bordom includes making money! If you want to move up for a reason like "they don't respect my raises" then you need to move down. And here moving down includes the play money tables! Play as cheaply as you can because your play *will* cost you money until you really understand the game. |

Although not being "results oriented" is good advice in some situations, it sounds to me like you have not invested much time in learning about the game (correct me if I'm wrong). Before you go back to the tables, I suggest you read Small Stakes Hold'em because it will give you detailed information about starting hands as well as how to play after the flop (which is actually much more important, although much more difficult to do well).
Also check out the MicroLimitLibrary http://poker.wikia.com/wiki/MicroLimitLibrary Good Luck |

I didn't know that Microlimitlibrary existed...awesome! Nice Job whoever put that together.
OP: Read Small Stakes Hold'em, play .5/10 till you got some bank(earned bank), post hands, whore it up. |

And here moving down includes the play money tables! [/ QUOTE ] This is terrible advice. Play money tables bear about as much resemblence to cash poker as a rattlesnake does to a giraffe. Also, OP, if you have read absolutely nothing to this point, I'd start out with Lee Jones's "Winning Low Limit Hold 'Em". There are going to be a lot of responses to this that include terms like "weak-tight", but it is MUCH easier to digest than SSHE and WILL get you on a winning path. And, no, it is not at all difficult to change gears to the more aggressive style suggested in SSHE. You will eventually want to graduate to SSHE, but until you get a simple foundation there's a lot in SSHE that you're going to mis-apply or just completely mis-understand. |
